There are many great home improvement ideas found in magazines, books and in the internet. However, for every good home improvement idea, there are several not-so-good ones. The term bad home improvement idea is an objective one, of course, as a great home improvement idea for one person can be a bad one for another and vise versa. Still, there are some ideas that house support sites, interior design professionals, and home improvement articles agree should forever be considered bad home improvement ideas.

Incorporating too much of anything, regardless of what those things entail, can be considered a bad home improvement idea. Too much of patterns, theme, and scenery can be an eyesore not to mention downright overwhelming for anyone. Another not-so-good idea in trying to improve the appearance of your home is painting with outrageous colors. The idea of self-expression and being unique is good but painting your house hot pink or neon orange is something you should not do especially if you are trying to sell your house.

Another idea that can be considered a bad one is the idea of going for a futuristic look in home design and decorations. This is different from redesigning your home to have a modern appeal. Attempting to give your home an appeal of a house in the year 3010 by incorporating some crazy looking chair, chrome color everywhere, and weird looking decorations is something that will not impress people in the present year.
