Household Solutions to Scratches on LCD Screens
Most laptops, computer monitors, cellular phones and portable video game systems being released to the consumer market today use TFT modules to provide great contrast and quality of images.
However, as impressive as LCD TFT panels are, it is a known fact that LCD screens are prone to damage such as scratches when not properly taken care of. Available in the market today are so-called screen protectors that help protect LCD screens from getting scratches. If your LCD screen is scratched, there is no need to worry as there can be some solutions to this kind of problem. If the scratches are not so deep, the solution can be found right inside your home. To remove small and light scratches, all you need are cotton swabs, some petroleum jelly and non-abrasive hand towels. First, it is advisable to remove dust and lint from the surface of the LCD screen using a soft, non-abrasive hand towel. It is important to use a non-abrasive towel so that you won’t add new scratches to the screen’s surface as you wipe it down with the towel. Put some petroleum jelly onto a cotton swab and then apply it to the scratch. Using the cotton swab, carefully run the petroleum jelly into the scratch. Afterwards, use a clean and soft, non-abrasive hand towel to wipe off the petroleum jelly residue and you will notice that the scratch disappears.
Some home owners claim that using pencil erasers, Vaseline and rubbing alcohol instead of petroleum jelly can also be an effective solution to removing scratches on LCD screens.
Keeping Small Appliances
In today’s modern times, cooking had been so much easier as compared to the process done decades and even centuries ago. This is due to the invention of different appliances that help make the kitchen chores easier and faster to do. Aside from large kitchen appliances like the refrigerator and dish washers, a typical kitchen now involves small and handy appliances such as blenders, toasters, mixers, pressure cookers and can openers that simply cut the cooking time and trouble in half.
Yet, as much as these small appliances present undeniable convenience in the kitchen, they can also present a certain concern about taking up much of your working place. It is a typical mistake of many homeowners to purchase a lot of these small appliances to improve their cooking experience yet not think of properly storing them. Thus, the usual result is that these appliances tend to end up on the countertop even when they are not in use, taking up much of space.
It is advisable to designate a place or cabinet in the kitchen where you can place your small appliances when they are not being used so they won’t take up your cooking space. Arrange them in a way that the ones you usually use are in the front while the ones you don’t often use are in the back. It is a good idea to wrangle the cords using rubber bands or twist ties so that they won’t go in the way and get tangled with other cords.
