Nobody can fully understand your house design and construction preferences more than you do. The picture of your dream haven and ideal house is inside your head on no one has the ability to take a peek at it. Thus, for people who are not very articulate or are not very good at expressing their ideas, it may be quite a challenge to discuss design and house plans with the architect and professional interior designer, and the construction of the house usually end up a little bit different than what is desired.

Therefore, it may be a good idea to try to have at least an initial and simple house plan that the owner himself made before discussing it with the professionals. This is to ensure that the things and rooms are going to be made exactly as he preferred. It is not a must that you create a detailed sketch of your house plan, even just a shape and divisions for the rooms and their measurement details is enough. You can opt to use the 1 inch = 4 feet or the 1 inch= 8 feet measurements for your sketch.

It is also advisable that you list all the things that you need your house to have: the bedrooms, kitchen, living room, toilet and bathrooms, as well as their location in the house.
